The Italian giant of the production of sports and luxury cars has announced in an official announcement that it has fallen prey to a data breach cyberattack, after the attackers gained access to some of its IT systems.
Referring to the same source, it is quoted that: “We regret to inform you about a cyber incident at the Ferrari company, where a hacker was able to access a limited number of our systems, in the IT environment”, writes Ferrari.
Further, the hacker contacted the company Ferrari S.p.A, Italian branch, was contacted by the person in question with a threat of demand, for a reward in relation to certain details of the customer’s contact”, the Ferrari company states in the official announcement.
“Upon receiving the reward request, we immediately launch an investigation in cooperation with a leading global third-party cyber security firm.”
It is emphasized that customer information such as names, addresses, email addresses and phone numbers were accessed by the hackers behind this attack.
So far, Ferrari has not yet found evidence of payment details or other financial information that may have been compromised for its customers.
