How to protect our phone from hackers

Nowadays, we all surf the Internet. Security is a very delicate matter, especially in our phones.

Many times we ask ourselves and complain, why is the phone so slow? Why does the phone restart often? Why am I missing some personal photos or videos?

Questions of this nature make you think and suspect that your phone may have fallen prey to a cyber hacker attack.

There are many different types of phone viruses, the most common being malware by installing certain apps when you are on a website. To continue later with the opening of emails where an attached file appears as a known file, but inside there is a virus code, it can steal your personal data, your credit or debit cards and valuable documents.

In this guide, we will give you some simple ways to protect yourself from hackers on your phone, be it Android or Apple ioS:

1. Never leave your phone in places where you are not presenting yourself, always keep it nearby.

2. When you buy a new phone, never leave it with the default password such as 1234 or 0000, but change it.

3. Manage the security of your Bluetooth, use and connect your Bluetooth phone only to secure devices that you know who they are. If you do not use bluetooth, it is recommended to turn it off.

4. Avoid public Wi-Fi, often when we travel to different countries and we don’t have mobile data, we have to log in to public Wi-Fi. But in this way we are very much at risk from a hacker, who can do a Man-in-the-Middle attack by reading us and taking all our data from the phone. In such cases, avoid logging into public WIFI, or use a VPN program that changes your phone’s IP, in order not to risk any possible attack.

5. Turn off the Autocomplete option, in the settings of your phone. By doing this, you remove the possibility of sensitive information being stored in the history of any web page or application from being exposed to attacks.

6. If you have an iPhone or Android, always activate the option Find my phone or Find my iPhone, which you can do in your Google Account as well as your iCloud account. This mode gives us the opportunity to track our phone, in case of theft, or block it, or even call it if necessary.

7. Do not install applications outside the Android or Apple Store platforms, which are not certified by them. Installing the app from an external source increases the risk of a malware or ransomware virus that you can integrate into your phone, giving hackers access to sensitive personal data.

8. Always update the software on your phone, as well as the installed app. Updates are updates for the maintenance and security of your phone.

9. Set your complex and unique passwords. Enter a password with at least 8 characters, at least one capital letter, at least two numbers, as well as any special character, for example #$!?-. Example AbC!@-2023.

10. Last and not least, use the two factory authenticate option on your phone, but be careful to save the backup key or phrase for these apps in a safe place with great security. This app gives you the possibility that email, other apps or even your phone cannot be accessed from external sources, without setting the unique code generated by this app to log in.
I emphasize that you save the backup code or phrase in a very safe place, because in case of phone breakdown or loss, you may not have access to your accounts for many apps or accounts.
